Remember the Orionid Meteor Shower? I went up to try to catch some shots. Information I found on the web indicated best time to be there was 2 hours before sunrise, and that there would be up to 50 per hour.

Well...I was there a bit before that, 4:30a.m., and between that time and sunrise at arond 7:30, I saw a total of 7 meteors. (Of course, I'm sure there were some I didn't see). Of course none of those were in the field of view where I was taking pictures. They were pretty dim too, so they may not have gotten caught in the picture.

I did catch some nice sunrise pictures. Here is one, from this Gallery.

This week, I went up this week, in hopes of catching a good full moon shot. But the location I was at turned out to not be a good vantage point for the rising moon. However, I did get some nice sunset shots, store in the same gallery. Here is one of the sunset shots:

Good Guys - Des Moines Iowa - 2012

I finally uploaded pictures from the Des Moines Good Guys Run, over July 4th weekend. There are a lot of nice cars there.

To my friends that love old cars, I've added pics of the last couple rod runs I went to: Branson Shepherd of the Hills run, and the Street Machine Nationals.

Went on another photo walk this weekend. Went out to Missouri Town.

Missouri Town is a town near Lake Jacomo, that represents a town from the 1855 era.

Had a lot of fun. A  couple of the photos are below. This is a link to the gallery.

A couple weeks ago I went down to Texas, specifically the Fredericksburg area, to get photos of the blue bonnet bloom. I timed it just right. Got a lot of good shots. Here is a link to the gallery.

I am pleased to announce that we have our first Collection of Metal Prints, the Lighthouse Collection.

We have had a log of positive feedback on the lighthouse pictures, and especially in the metal print format. Go over here and check it out!

I've been real busy lately with the Shuttermaster web site. Building pages for a Lighthouse Collection of Metal Prints. So haven't had time to post anything on the blog.

However, I went on a photo walk in Kansas City last week, at the City Market. I'd love to get any constructive feedback you'd like to provide.

Below is my favorite picture from the photo walk:

Fairy Garden

During our trip to Maine, while visiting one of the lighthouses, we passed by this scenery. One of our good friends that went with us on that trip said "I love this. It looks just like a fairy garden".

While I've never had the pleasure of seeing a fairy garden, darn'ed if I don't agree with her.

As continuation of my previous post, The Story about Unnecessary Noise, below is a photo from one of my boards on Pinterest (click the photo to get to my Pinterest board). I think this is a great photo, and it is 'just an escalator'.

If you find any interest photos of something that is just ordinary, but a great photo, please become a member of this blog, and post some comments with links ;-)

The Story about Unnecessary Noise

I am beginning to think I also need to get a fairly high end, smaller, point and shoot type of camera that I can carry with me all the time. Since becoming more serious with photography, I find things I'd like to shoot a picture of all the time. It just isn't practical to carry my SLR with me all the time.

On the topic of 'things to shoot', it's interesting how a critical eye can find ordinary things to shoot pictures of. On our recent vacation that took us to New York, I took this shot that had signs I found interesting to be posted in New York City:

We particularly got a good laugh out of the "Don't Honk/$350 Penalty" sign...IN NEW YORK CITY.

Now from that post of signs we came up with one my wife wanted me to work with to put in our bathroom we were remodeling. I cropped into the "UNNECESSARY NOISE PROHIBITED", then did some Photoshop work on it, making it look like a painting. Then printed it on a Canvas Thin Wrap. This is the picture we printed and hung:

My wife and I went on a drive into Kansas City recently. Decided to go through Lake Jacomo.

Given the winter providing trees with no folage, nor snow, during our short drive I didn't find that many photo opportunities. I did find one area that I had some fun with.

The photo below is my favorite of the few pics I took that day.

Just a few more photos at the gallery on page 4.
